Approaches

Approaches are the attitudes and strategies your character uses to solve problems or face challenges. The higher the value of the approach, the more effective your character is with that mindset or technique.

Approaches determine how many Action dice go into your dice pool for action rolls.

FORCE — approaching with brawn, severity, or conviction.
DISCIPLINE — approaching with control, caution, or method.
FINESSE — approaching with elegance, precision, or agility.
GUILE — approaching with cunning, deception, or charm.
INTUITION — approaching with instinct, sensitivity, or perception.
EMPATHY — approaching with openness, candor, or connection.

Force, Discipline, and Finesse are physical approaches, and are subject to Fatigue.
When you're fatigued, physical approaches can be more difficult.

Guile, Intuition, and Empathy are mental approaches, and are subject to Fog.
When you're foggy, mental approaches can be more difficult.

Approaches are rated by how familiar and competent your character is at using them:
0 — abysmal
1 — poor
2 — decent
3 — great
4 — exceptional

See Backstory Creation for how to set your Approaches when creating your character.
