Range
Range, distance, and movement are tracked in Range Bands.
- Adjacent
- Close
- Far
- Distant
Adjacent
Touching, or directly next to.
Fist fights, close-quarters combats, or in the grip of a goblin. You need to be at this range to hit someone with a sword.
You can talk easily, whisper, or even smell someone at this range.
Close
Someone at Close Range can be reached in a few seconds by running over to them. Throwing an object to hit someone starts to get difficult outside of this range.
You’d have to speak firmly and clearly for someone to make out your words at this distance.
Far
Getting to adjacent when at long range would take some time— long enough that a few actions could take place, and the GM could tick a clock.
This is the furthest range that a longbow can be effective.
You'd have to yell at someone to get their attention.
While tracking or chasing someone, it becomes more likely that they get away.
Distant
It takes a few clock ticks or a few actions' worth of time to close this distance.
Yelling or screaming could be heard, but it might be difficult to tell which direction it's coming from.
This is the range where you're likely to lose sight of someone.
