Praudia

Praudia is a jagged coastal frontier where the shores drop sheer cliffs into the sea.

It's a place defined by a twin identity: a chain of fortified stone cities along the shore with a culture of self-reliance, and a wild interior of limestone peaks & deep gorges that show the deep reliance on resources from Praudia's northern neighbor, Saalzych.

But the coast is not without its farmable lands, and its deep-water channels provide a perfect cover for both merchant fleets and pirate coves.

The ports are prosperous & mostly self-governing. These cities rely on high-stakes seafaring trade, often navigating the dangerous waters between the larger warring empires.

A unique religious tradition persists in both the cities and rural valleys where the rites are performed in an old tongue using an ancient, angular script. The priests are the keepers of the people's identity and follow "the pure, old gods", loudly spurning the religious influence of any northern or western visitors.

Praudia has relatively few monsters but is still plagued by hobgoblins and elemental spirits. The common folk say that the barrier between the mundane world and the elemental plane is weak in the places the spirits appear. There are also unproven claims of the presence of vampires and a nest of kikimora.

Praudians speak the language High Gethorian. Most would be familiar with Getur and Rhonic, and some would speak Kyrosan or Spiacian.
